Myron "Douglas" Carter, 82, of Thatcher, Idaho passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
Doug was born on July 10, 1935 in Preston, Idaho the son of Myrin Davis and Helen Larsen Carter. He was the oldest of eight children.
He graduated from Grace High School and then went on to serve in the United States Navy, where he was an aircraft mechanic during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home he married Elaine Burton who was his wife of fifty-eight years. This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple on January 16, 2016.
They began their lives together in Seattle, Washington, where Doug was employed for Boeing Aircraft. They shortly returned home to Thatcher, Idaho to the farm that was to be home for the next sixty years.
Doug was a school board member for several years, President of the Cottonwood Grazing Association, served on the Thatcher Cemetery Board, but most importantly he was a damn good farmer. He could be as stubborn as they come but had a heart of gold.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Ann Campbell, Roy, UT, son, Dwight (Sharon) Carter, Thatcher, ID, daughter, Sandra (Blake) Garner, Farrwest, UT, daughter, Roxan (Jim) Trujillo, Boise, ID; four sisters and three brothers, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, his parents, his wife's parents, four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Family will welcome friends on Friday, September 22 from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Church in Niter, ID. There will be a graveside service at the Thatcher Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors.
