Nancy Jean Lind Gagon Hopkins

Nancy, at 100 years old, passed away Oct. 10, 2021 in Pocatello, Idaho, at Monta Vista Hills Living Center.  She was born May 11, 1921 in Moline, Illinois, to parents Axel Lind and Jesse M. Moore Lind. She was an only child.

She married Robert Harrison Wherry. They had twin sons, Thomas and Robert Wherry. Nancy and Robert later divorced.

On May 10, 1961 she married (Bud) Otto Herman Gagon in Soda Springs.

Nancy was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed friends and associations with the people there. She loved music and sang with the church choir. She always wanted to help with the church bazars.

On February 2, 1974 Bud passed away.

A friend, said her children loved it when she would come to baby sit, because she would always make them Sugar Sandwiches.  Nancy had a real sweet tooth!

She loved collecting memorabilia and had many boxes of decorative plates and such that she had ordered.

Nancy enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen's dinners and activities. It was there that she met Thomas Parley Hopkins. They were married August 7, 1986 in Paris, Idaho.  She and Parley enjoyed going for car rides, especially to Bailey Creek where Parley spent a lot of his life. Parley passed away December 7, 1992.

Nancy had a very good memory. The Pink Ladies that would come to the Living Center and those providing church services there, all commented how Nancy knew all the songs and would sing along.

A special thanks to all those who cared for Nancy during her later years. The staff at Spring Creek Manor, Caribou Memorial Living Center and Monta Vista Hills. They made these last years of her life comfortable for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Jessie Lind, husbands, (Bud) Gagon, Parley Hopkins

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Fairview Cemetery, in Soda Springs Idaho at 11:00 a.m. Services are under the direction of Pastor Nathan Sobers. A special thanks to Sims Funeral Home for their service and help at this time.
