Nedra C. Torgesen, 81 of Soda Springs passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Nedra was born on June 8, 1935 in Soda Springs, Idaho the daughter of William Carl and Mabel Athay Finch. She was a lifelong resident of Soda Springs, Idaho. She graduated from Paris High School in 1952 and then attended Utah State University. Nedra married Robert Keith Torgesen on June 7, 1953 in Soda Springs, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on February 20, 1956. He passed away on May 28, 2007. Together they operated a successful ranch and farm for over 50 years. They were honored by the Idaho Agcredit for their successful farming business for 50 plus years . She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many ward callings and also served as the Stake Relief Society President. She also served on a mission in Kalamazoo Michigan with her husband and served as Temple Officiators for 8 years in the Logan Temple. She enjoyed cooking. She was a voracious reader enjoying a wide range of topics which gave her the opportunity to share her knowledge with those who she visited with. She was very passionate about cooking gourmet meals for her companion and friend Sassy (dog). Her loves where her grandchildren; sitting on her porch visiting with friends; watching birds and ducks on her pond. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Bradley and Shannon Torgesen of Pocatello, ID, Brian and Cindy Torgesen of Soda Springs, ID, Todd and Kathy Jo Torgesen of Murphysboro, Ill, Kristen and Alan Skinner of Soda Springs, ID. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister Janice Louisa Valentine. Family will visit with friends and family on Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and also on Wednesday 10-11:30 a.m. prior to a Private Family Service by personal invitation. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
