As earth has lost a beautiful woman, Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Noreen Nelson Munro, 80, of Bancroft, Idaho passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Elko, Nevada.
She was born April 18, 1934 in Bancroft, Idaho the daughter of Elbert & Eliza Pearl Kelly Nelson. She was raised in Bancroft, graduating from North Gem High School in 1952. Noreen married her sweetheart, Dorrian Evert Munro in the Logan Temple on June 18th of the same year. They lived in Astoria, OR, Ely, NV, Salt Lake City, UT and Soda Springs, ID. Dorrian's work also took them to El Paso, TX & Morrilton, AR. After the passing of her husband she lived in Logan, UT & then returned to Bancroft where her and her sister, Mardel took care of their mother and uncle.
Noreen worked for a time while living in Utah for Beehive Clothing as a seamstress and Granite School District as a cook. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in several leadership and training positions, including Visiting Teaching, Relief Society, Young Women's and primary. She was currently serving as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor. Noreen loved to travel and spend time with her family. She would try to attend every blessing, baptism, activity that took place with all family members. She loved to spend time in the summer in her garden and taking walks. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for her great-grandchildren, embroidering dish towels for her grandchildren, quilting, counted cross stitch and scrapbooking.
Noreen is survived by her sister Mardel Crump of Bancroft, ID, her daughters Patricia Noreen (Marvin Anderson of Soda Springs, ID, Cynthia Diann (Russell) Mangone of Taylorsville, UT, Beckilyn (Dean)Dawes fo Green River, WY, Teresa Dorene (Randy) Lakeman of Elko, NV and Sandra Kay (Kevin) Kartchner of Boise, ID, 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years.
In lieu
of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
Services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Noon at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Family will visit with friends on Wednesday 7-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Thursday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.
