Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and brother Randy Beckstead died March 15, 2015 in Glendale AZ from complications of pneumonia. He was surrounded by his loved ones who will miss him so much.
He was born on the 4th of July 1952 in Soda Springs ID to Alden and Leda Beckstead. His mother watched the fireworks that night in celebration of his birth and his children grew up thinking everyone in America had fireworks for their Daddy's birthday. He survived a childhood with 5 rough and tumble brothers. They were let loose in the morning and expected to be home for supper. He learned to love the outdoors as a child and later would tell many, many stories about his childhood adventures.
Randy stole the hand of his high school sweetheart Karen right out from under her Dad's nose and whisked her off to Germany where he was serving in the Army. They grew up together because they married so young. In 1982, they took their young family to be sealed in the Logan, UT temple. He remained a faithful, active member of the Latter Day Saint church throughout his life, even enduring working in the scouting program so that his boys would all become Eagle scouts. Randy was a devoted father and grandfather to his 4 children and 11 grandchildren. He taught them to appreciate Harleys, fire pits and hot dog roasts, coke thirty, finding bears, and Yellowstone National Park. He was so proud of his children and was positive his grandkids were the best looking, smartest, most amazing kids on this earth. He always joked about driving 106 with his "long legs" but the only thing that was ever 106 was the temperature on his truck.
He worked for Rocky Mountain Power for over 35 years, making friends in ID, UT and WY. He retired 2 years ago and spent every day making happy memories with his sweetheart.
Randy is survived by his loving wife Karen, daughter Tina Larsen, sons Thane (Janae), Lucas (Kelly) and Dan (Nicole.) 10 grandchildren, his father-in-law Gene Rasmussen, his brothers Dean (Sherrie), Von (Mary), Ted (Sheryl) and Tony. His sisters-in-law Beth Rasmussen and Cathy Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Leda Beckstead, brother Dennis, mother-in-law Artie Rasmussen, brother-in-law Grant Rasmussen and his grandson Zach Larsen.
