Lloyd Ray Welker, 63; of Grace ended his courageous battle with cancer Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Logan, Utah.
Ray was born December 11, 1945 in Soda Springs, Idaho the son of Lloyd and Helen Thompson Welker.
Ray was raised and educated in the Grace area.
He married Marilyn Harwood November 24, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah.
Ray worked for the City of Grace as Superintendent. He also enjoyed helping out at the Grace High School Athletics as scorekeeper and running the game clock. He also was involved with the little league programs in Grace. He was a member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served in various callings and most recently was the Ward Clerk for the Grace 2nd Ward.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and dutch oven cooking and going on drives around the valley and the mountains.
Ray is survived by his wife Marilyn and two sons and one daughter, Ron Welker of Twin Falls, ID; Corey Welker of Preston, ID; and Debbie Welker of Pocatello, ID. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and two brothers and one sister, Jim Welker of Soda Springs, ID; Bob Welker of Grace, ID; and Gina Glover of Pocatello, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Clayton Ransom, a brother Virgil Garner and two sisters, Delores Larsen and Ruth Welker.
Services were held on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. Burial was in the Grace Cemetery.
