Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Renae W. Spencer, 63, of Grace, Idaho passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2017 at her home. She was born October 12, 1953 in Soda Springs, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Randy B. Spencer, her four children, Randall Dirk (Sally Rae) Spencer, Heather (Brian) Larsen, Jeremy (Jacky) McAlister, and Darla (Brad) Davis. She is blessed to be survived by 11 grandchildren: Andrew Spencer, Cody Spencer, Emily Spencer, Craig Spencer, Mark Smith, Robert Smith, Tiffani Smith, Jada McAlister, Carly McAlister, Maya Davis, and Jackson Davis. She is blessed to be survived by two great grandchildren: Rose Maria De la Torre and Abigail Ellen-Smith. She is survived by her sisters: Norma Jean (Derald) Twitchell, Teresa Whitman, and Nancy Brooks. She is also survived by her faithful pet Chihuahua "Pepper".
Renae was born and raised in Soda Springs, graduating from Soda Springs High School in 1972. She was always very active playing organized softball, bowling in leagues, shooting pool, and generally being in the middle of any social activity. She would take the glove off the second baseman from behind the home plate throwing out opposing base runners. She was always the first in line at the thrill rides and an overall adventurer with a real lust for life.
Renae was a hard worker all of her life. Whether she was working in the spuds, supervising cleaning crews at hotels, or lining Randy out on chores around the house, she knew what needed to be done and made sure the job got done. Her best work was reserved for her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Her work ethic set a high standard for everyone around her.
Her life was far from conventional but then again, she was an exceptional person. She was always a petite gal, but incredibly tough. She had to raise her two young daughters as a single mother until she was able to meet her lifelong companion, whom she married on December 28th, 1981.
An avid lover of animals, Renae loved riding horses in the mountains. She was in her element around a campfire with her dog on her lap. She loved singing along with the guitars and telling some of her own "tall tales". Her laughter and good-natured sense of humor will stay with us forever.
Renae had a zest for life, enjoying spending her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her face would light up when she saw any one of them. She was also a peacekeeper in the family. She was an amazing cook and huckleberry jam maker. She loved going on her yearly "Girls' Trips" and having coffee with friends. She has left a profound void with her passing.
Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center (404 South Main, Grace, ID). Family will visit with friends Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Friday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services.
