Richard "Dick" Keith Allred, 89, of Soda Springs, Idaho passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.
He was born on October 19, 1922 in Montpelier, Idaho the son of Frederick Homer and Mary "Mollie" Whitley Thirkill Allred.
Dick graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1941. Following his graduation he moved to Las Vegas, NV to work for Southern Pacific Rail Road as a telegrapher. In 1943 he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged in 1945 and returned to Soda Springs and has lived there since.
He married Leona LaPriel Johnson on February 15, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 7, 2000.
Dick was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member in the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Elks for 65 years. He had also been a pony league baseball coach and little league coach.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, golf, sports and especially attending his grandchildren's sports and activities.
Dick is survived by his wife LaPriel of Soda Springs, ID, and three daughters, Molly Lee Swenson of Soda Springs, ID, Jan Dee and Max Shaffer of Inkom, ID, Valerie Sue and Keith Anderson of Blackfoot, ID. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Virgil and Jay Allred and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center (290 South 3rd West). The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Concluding services and Military Rites will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
