Richard Glenn Viehweg, 71; of Grace passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 in California.
Richard was born February 15, 1940 the son of Carl Owen and Wilma Venvertloh Viehweg in Logan, Utah.
He was raised in Clifton, Idaho and graduated from Westside High School.
Richard enjoyed his time as drummer for the "Motions" Rock Band.
He married Vicki Harris on August 20, 1965 in Grace, Idaho. Their marriage was latter solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on August 20, 1975. They were later divorced.
He later married Robin Collins on February 9, 1984 in Grace, Idaho. They were later divorced.
Richard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Scouting program for many years. He also was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association and the American Legion and VFW.
He enjoyed boat racing, drag racing, Kari Oki, Texas holdem, poker and pinochle.
He loved and enjoyed his family very much and spent all the time he could with them. He always had a smile and was a friend to all.
He is survived by two sons and five daughters; Clifton and Stephanie Viehweg of Reno, NV; Josh Lakey of Grace, ID; Kim and Todd Mendenhall of Soda Springs, ID; Mandy and George Cholico of Reno, NV; Teal Taggart of Thatcher, ID; Lea Viehweg and Jared Cantrell of Pocatello, ID; Sadi Viehweg, of Pocatello, ID. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, one brother Dale Viehweg and a sister Gloria Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Richelle Viehweg, a sister Carolyn Gee and a brother Dan Viehweg.
Services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. at Stake Center prior to services.
Cremation services will be held following services and burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Veterans Memorial in Soda Springs.
