Obituary

Riley Letham Mickelson, 74, of Lago, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 the result of a farm accident.
He was born March 2, 1934 at Lago, Idaho the son of Harris Anton and Norma Letham Mickelson.
He was a life long resident of Lago, educated in Lago for 4 years; consolidated school in Thatcher 4 years and was the first graduating class in the new Grace High School.
Riley married Barbara Fae Thompson December 4, 1959 in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was a farmer and dairy farmer raising registered Holsteins.
Riley was a High Priest in the Williams LDS Ward. He had served a mission to the Southern States. He has also served in various church positions. He has three grandsons serving LDS missions at this time.
Riley showed cattle professionally in his younger years. He has been a leader in Holstein circles, served on the Board of Directors and has served as President from local to state levels. He helped organize the quality corner sale and the judging school. He has been on the sale selection committee at local, state and national levels. He was active in 4H and FFA; he was the Idaho State FFA Vice President in 1953 to 1954. He has served as Idaho's delegate to seven National Holstein Conventions. He is a lifetime member of the Holstein Association; a member of the National Dairy Shrine and was recently inducted into Idaho's Dairy Hall of Fame.
He enjoyed woodworking, collecting antiques; writing poems; going to the mountains with his family and picking huckleberries; he especially enjoyed building fires and roasting hot dogs with his kids and grandkids.
Riley is survived by his wife Barbara Mickelson, Lago, 6 sons and 4 daughters; Scott and Kerry Mickelson, Pocatello, ID; Antone and Kelly Mickelson, Yakima, WA; Marty and Dianne Mickelson, Lewiston, UT; Blair and Laura Mickelson, Corinne, UT; Arlen Mickelson and Marlowe and Noel Mickelson, all of of Lago, ID; Brenda Fae and Delmas Smith, Kempner, TX; Marsha Ann and Philip Warren, Jerome, ID; Betty Jo and Jed Fellows, Preston, ID and Sarah Lee and Wade Hansen, Lancaster, OH. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren 2 brothers and 6 sisters; Daniel and RoseMary Mickelson, Grace, ID; Norris and Jean Mickelson, Willard, UT ; Ardelle and Jim Holderness, Boise, ID; Norma and Bill Putnam, Albuquerque, NM; Aloma and Max Gregerson, Vilonia, AR; Helen and Glayd Christensen, Grace, ID; Nila and Phil Panter, Mesquite, NV and Neta and Wynn Thomas, Grace, ID; and a sister-in-law Linda Mickelson, Lago, ID He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ida Belle Wright and a brother Lawrence and a son Brian J.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 17th at Noon at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter. Burial was in the Lago Cemetery. The Family suggests donations may be made to the Primary Children's Hospital in SLC.
