Obituary

Robert "Bob" Mendenhall, 84, of Preston, ID passed away on February 1, 2018.

He was born on October 15, 1933 in Thatcher, ID, the son of Murat Herd and Katie Anderson Mendenhall.

He was raised on the family farm in Thatcher and graduated from Grace High School.

Bob served in the US Army for 5 years.

He also spent several winters in Yuma, AZ and then moved to Preston in 2012.

He married Sherry Juanita Petersen on June 20, 1956 in Soda Springs, ID. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple; Sherry passed away March 19, 1982.

He married Donna Ann Purcell on September 20, 1982; they were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple.
He married Beth Priestley Taylor on December 22, 1993.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and was the "go to" guy for dutch oven cooking for many ward events.

He retired from Monsanto after 30 years.

Bob enjoyed Boise Broncos football and the Utah Jazz, and was a die-hard #1 fan.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, camping, and snowmobiling. He held many championship shuffleboard titles at Desert Paradise Park in Yuma, AZ.

He is survived by his wife Beth Mendenhall of Preston, three sons, Todd (Kim) Mendenhall of Soda Springs, Tab (Karen) Mendenhall of Lava Hot Springs, ID, currently serving a mission in Palmyra, NY, Deon (Shelley) Mendenhall of St. George, UT, and stepchildren Alison Rodriguez, Lynette Loyden, Charlotte Purcell, and Linda Taylor Spackman. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sherry, wife Donna, a step-son Jeffery Taylor, two brothers Jay and Monte, and a sister Jacqelyn Barden.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at the Thatcher/Williams Ward building in Niter at 11 a.m. Family will visit with friends on Monday, February 5, 6-8 p.m. at the church and also Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery with military honors.
