Robert "Bob" J Herd, 81; of Soda Springs passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Robert was born on December 21, 1930 in Preston, Idaho the son of William Knowles and Mary Elizabeth McNeil Herd.
He was raised in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. He also attended Utah State University.
Robert married Faun Gilbert on January 10, 1951 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
He lived in Preston, Idaho for 25 years and has lived in Soda Springs, Idaho for the past 56 years.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had served as Hometeacher, Ward Clerk, Bishop Counselor, Bishop, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Scout Leader, High Councilor and various other callings.
Robert had worked as a newspaper distributor, plumber, owner of the Chevron Service Station, Life and Auto Insurance Salesman, Chain Saw Dealer, Real Estate Broker and an Ad Valorem Tax Appraiser.
He was a member of the Caribou County Shooting Club, National Rifle Association and National Realtors Association.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, shooting and especially activities with his family.
He is survived by his wife Faun, and two sons, Robert Reid and Karen Herd of Logan, UT; Neil Gilbert and Christine Herd of Moses Lake, WA; and four daughters, Jamie and Brent Andersen of Rexburg, ID; Barbara and Brent Baugh of Bear River City, UT; Lorraine and Ron Myers of Soda Springs, ID; Sandra and Kerry Schwartz of Lehi, UT. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his siblings.
Services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center (290 South 3rd West). The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home (139 East 2nd South) and on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Franklin, Idaho Cemetery at 2 p.m.
