Ross Wayne Harrington passed away peacefully at his home in Soda Springs, Idaho on September 12, 2009. He fought a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Ross was born on July 23, 1955 to Bruce and Edith Fredricksen Harrington and raised and educated in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from East High School and went on to further his education by obtaining a structural engineering degree. He apprenticed out of the Ironworkers union that his grandfather stared. Ross followed in his grandfather and father's footsteps and was a 3rd generation journeyman ironworker and rigger and worked on many industrial construction projects.
He then joined the US Navy and served as an Air Traffic Controller. He traveled all over the world serving in Desert Storm, Provide Comfort and many other battles of the Gulf War. Prior to his diagnosis Ross was employed as a certified crane operator.
He was the beloved husband of Sheri Geragi for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older sister Linda of Salt Lake City. He leaves his wife of Soda Springs, ID; daughter April Platero and son-in-law Tony and granddaughter Shawnee Rose of Layton, step-daughter Amy Geragi of Atlanta, GA; and many friends.
Ross was a 32nd degree mason and belonged to Caribou Lodge in Soda Springs and Acacia and Mt. Mariah lodges in Salt Lake City. He was also a Shriner serving in the Divan on the Shriner's Hospital Board for a year. Ross touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. He had a sparkling sense of humor and maintained it to the end. While fighting cancer, Ross was still concerned about others.
Cremation services were held September 12, 2009. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Noon at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs.
