Ruben Coombs, 94, of Arizona, formerly of Thatcher and Arimo, Idaho, passed away Friday March 21, 2008 at home. He was born November 24, 1913 at Thatcher, Idaho the son of David Joshua and Ivy Lucy Thompson Coombs.
He was raised and educated in Thatcher. He lived in Thatcher until 1989 when he moved to Arimo, Idaho, moving to Arizona in October 2005.
He married Geneal Stone, April 28, 1945 in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Geneal passed away August 2, 1988.
He married Gaynell Morley in 1989 at Arimo, Idaho. She passed away in 1992.
He married Virginia Bennett in January of 1994 at Arimo, Idaho. She passed away December 2004.
He had worked in the cheese factory in Thatcher, and as custodian in the Thatcher school for many years.
He had worked on various ranches. During WWII he worked for the railroad in Ogden, Utah.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ruben and Geneal played in a band called the "Moonlighters". While in Arimo he played drums in a band at the senior citizens center.
Ruben is survived by a son Curtis and Sharman Coombs, Maricopa, Arizona and step-son Neale Walton, Thatcher, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 sister; Millie Wood, Torrance, California.
Graveside services were conducted on Thursday, March 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lago Cemetery in Lago, Idaho.
