Ruth LaVon Evans DeKay, 81, passed away April 14, 2019 in Emmett Idaho.

She was born in Soda Springs Idaho the oldest of 3 children to Earl Elmer Evans and LaVon Olsen Evans on November 16 1937. She was raised in Soda Springs Idaho. She graduated from Soda High. She married Doyle DeKay on December 30,1955. Ruth was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed serving in many different callings.

In her early years of marriage she was a farmers wife and later in life she went to beauty school and became a beautician. While living on the farm she enjoyed driving combine and grain truck. She enjoyed working in her garden especially her raspberries, canning, ceramics, and crocheting.

Ruth was a true friend to all and had many friends. She was a great teacher, listener, and an example to all who knew her. She was also fun and genuine.

Ruth is survived by her husband Doyle DeKay -Soda Springs Idaho Debbie Cimino (Vince)-Emmett Idaho Marvin DeKay (Gina) Soda Springs Idaho Brother Bill Evans (Espie) Salt Lake City Utah Sister Trudie Pruer (Detluf) Salt Lake City Utah. She is also adored by 4 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded death by her parents along with 1 grandson and 1 great grandson.

Ruth was loved and adored by so many and will be greatly missed. We know she is carrying on her great legacy from above.

The family would like to express thanks to friends, family, pink lady's and red hat ladies who have shown their love and support during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the Bancroft Ward for all their help.

Services were held on Friday, April 19 at the Sims Funeral Home.
