Ryan J. Hale passed away January 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born July 18, 1949 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Rodney Jay and Martha May Revoir Hale. He spent his entire live in Caribou County. He spent his early years in Grace, Idaho until 1965 when his father built the Tosoiba Lanes Bowling Alley in Soda Springs.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Growing up Ryan participated in all sports but excelled in bowling and his real love of basketball where his team won the state championship tournament in 1967. After graduating from Soda Spring High School he attended Idaho State University. In 1971 he and Carla were married and to this union three children were born: Melanie Kaye, Misty Carlynn and Ryan Jay.
He and Carla purchased the Wheeler Auto Parts store in 1978, owning it until 1987. He also owned and operated the Radio Shack, Sears Catalog Store and Western Auto store. It was during this time that he obtained his real estate broker's license. In 1990 he built the Soft Touch Car Wash and is till the current owner. He was also employed by Kerr McGee, Washington Construction and Dravo-Soda Springs, retiring in 2014.
His hobbies and interests included riding his spyder, 4 Wheeling, Snowmobiling, Hunting and Fishing, but the most important thing in Ryan's life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carla, his children Melanie Hale, Misty Smith, Ryan (Jodie) Hale and Vance Smith, his grandchildren Alexandria and Sydney Poulsen, Gavan Smith, Kassidi and Jordan Hale and his great-granddaughter, Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Debra S. Maughan, his grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his family.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. Family will visit friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
