Sandra Reed Findlay, 73, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014.
Sandra was born in Bancroft, Idaho, January 22, 1941 to Samuel C. and Wanda Reed.
She attended school at North Gem through the eighth grade. Her family moved to Davisville in 1955. She attended Soda Springs High School and graduated in 1959.
Sandra married her High School sweetheart Walter Gene Findlay. Three sons were born, John Reed Findlay, Walter Russell Findlay (twins), and Mathew Gene Findlay.
Sandra worked as a secretary and eventually got a degree in Elementary Education and taught 29 years as a fourth and fifth grade teacher. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held various positions including Young Woman President, Relief Society President, Camp Director and served as teacher in the Primary. Sandra was on the Board of Directors for the Chesterfield Foundation and was also a member of the Caribou County Fair Board for five years and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband. Sandra in survived by her three sons, John Reed (Lisa) Findlay, Walter Russell (Coral Lee) Findlay, Mathew Gene (Maria) Findlay, and two sisters, Mary Alice Black and Donna (Dwaine) Ellingson, sister-in-law DeOne Smith, also one brother Samuel Curtis (Bonita) Reed and 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Brenda, Luke, Mark, Craig, Rachel, Andrea, James, Clark and Samuel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Tuesday morning from 10-10:45 at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Ovid Cemetery.
