Obituary

Scott Jay Olney, 51, of Soda Springs passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015.

Scott was born on March 24, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah the loving son of Kenneth Merlin and Norma Danielle Farnes Olney.

He grew up in Soda Springs, Idaho and graduated from Soda Springs High School and then joined the United States Air Force at age 19. He received an Associate's Degree in Instrumentation from ISU.

Scott found the love of his life while in the Air Force and married Charli Luanne Bible on June 18, 1988 in Reno, Nevada.

Scott was an ordained Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lector for St. Mary's Church in Soda Springs and was active in parish activities.

He worked at Agrium CPO as an instrumentation electrician and served on the Safety committee. He worked in order to make time for what he really loved – family and fun!
Scott enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, cooking, camping, being the perpetual big brother - teasing everyone shorter than him.

He is survived by his wife Charli Olney of Soda Springs, ID, two step-sons, Kevin Scott (Rhonda) Hamilton of Kenner, LA, Vernon Anthony Kochmar of Rapid City, SD, and a daughter, Debrah Diane (Jason) Bassett of Pocatello, ID. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, his father Kenneth M. (Edith) Olney of Chubbuck, ID-Washington, UT, one brother, Steven T. (Lisa) Olney of Ogden, UT, and three sisters, Debra (B.J.) Bergevin of Gig Harbor, WA, Tamara Olney of Chubbuck, ID, Tiffany (Jared) Keller of Boise, ID., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, N. Danielle Olney.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Soda Springs. Family will visit with friends on Wednesday morning from 10-11:30 at the Sims Funeral Home prior to going to the church for services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to SEICA to help others or Toys for Tots.
