Shirley Naomi Byers Hubbard, 89, of Grace, passed away April 6, 2008 at the home of her son Jim. She was born July 7, 1918 at Dallas City, Illinois, the daughter of Judson Walter and Effie Foster Byers.
She was raised and educated at Pontiac, Michigan, St George, UT and Chicago, IL.
She had also lived in Oakland, CA and in Grace since 1953.
Shirley married Merrill Dalton Hubbard, September 18, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Merrill passed away October 23, 2006.
She was a member of the Williams LDS Ward and had served on the Stake Relief Society Board; Stake Singing Mothers, Young Women's Organization, and a missionary. She was a faithful visiting teacher.
Shirley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed music, reading and quilting.
She is survived by 4 sons and 4 daughters and their spouses; Jim and Karen Hubbard, Grace, ID; Mark and Lisa Hubbard, Ephrata, PA; Scott and Sherri Hubbard, Smithfield, UT; Matthew and Dawn Hubbard, Bardstown, KY; Sheryl Hubbard, Logan, UT; Pamela and Brent Ahlmer, Ogden, UT; Barbara and Parke Hansen, Las Vegas, NV, Terese and Greg Lowe, Wendell, ID and special family friend, Deann Firth of Logan, Utah. Also surviving are 39 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a brother, Judson Byers, Orem, UT.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Walter and Judson Byers; sisters, Ina Littlewood, Vera Neereimer and a grandson David Hyrum Hubbard.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Conner, Director Susan Barkus, and staff of Creekside Hospice for their kind care.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Thatcher-Williams LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Grace Cemetery.
