Shirley LaRae Jenkins Nelson was born October 11, 1926, in Robin,
Idaho, to William and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins and passed away onAugust 6, 2013 in Fairview,Wyoming.
She was the youngest of fourteen children and spent her youth on
the family farm in Robin, Idaho. She graduated from McCammon High School in 1944 and married David L. Nelson in 1946. Employment drew them to Soda Springs in 1952 and the love of the community kept them there. She particularly enjoyed visits with her family, attending church, her years with the Hospital Auxiliary, and Dancing Grannies.
The last year and a half of her life was spent with her youngest
daughter, Cindy, in Fairview, Wyoming, where she received
exemplary care and love.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Richard) Dixon, Wendy (Mark) Steele, Valerie (Bobby) Bolton, Cindy (Dean) Martinsen,17 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her husband David, her parents, her thirteen siblings (seven brothers and six sisters), and Lydia Granadino, a granddaughter.
Services for Shirley will be held at the Bailey Creek LDS Chapel (361 S 3rd E) in Soda Springs August 10, 2013 at noon. The family will gather in the evening August 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to visit with friends at the Sims Funeral Home (139 E 2nd) in Soda Springs, Idaho. Friends and family may also visit prior to services from 10:30 to 11:30 at the LDS Chapel. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
