Stanley Eugene Matthews Jr., 83, of Pocatello passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello. Stanley was born on June 7, 1931 in Soda Springs, Idaho the son of Stanley Eugene Sr. and Fern Bullock Matthews. He graduated from Soda Springs High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Stanley married Rubie Godby on February 3, 1952 in Soda Springs, ID. They were later divorced. He married DeLora Huntsman O'Brien on June 1, 1972 in Elko, NV. She passed away on March 29, 2005. Stanley had lived in Pocatello for 8 years and had lived in Soda Springs for 55 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed golf, boating, fishing and working with wood. Stanley is survived by his life partner, June Sailor of Pocatello, ID, two sons, Stanley E. (Steven) Matthews III of Boise, ID, Dennis (Beth) O'Brien of Denver, CO, five daughters, Tania (Mike) May of Corvallis, OR, Cheri Caldwell of Salem, OR, Denise (Bill) Horsley of Soda Springs, ID, Linda (Stephen) Kucera of Omaha, NE, Debbie (Rick)Bressler of Kennewick, WA. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Darla Roberts and Lucille Trimble. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother Robert Moyer, and two sisters, Alice Franzen and Joann Beck. Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends from 11:30-12:30 prior to services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. Listen to service
