Bancroft resident Thiel Parker, age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019
at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho.
Thiel was born and raised in Lanark, Bear Lake, Idaho. He grew up with his three brothers and two sisters.
He loved the outdoors! He spent much of his youth fishing and hunting up in the mountains. As a teen he was drafted into the Military where he drove truck for the Army, and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. After serving a few years in the Army he met and married his first wife Maurette Davis (Divorced); together they had two children Joyce and Gary. He later met and married Carol McLain Parker of Bancroft, Idaho. They married in October of 1961 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Together they had one son, Wayne Parker. Thiel and Carol raised their family in Bancroft, Idaho; where Thiel worked for the city of Bancroft for 43 years. Thiel was often seen at local sporting events and community functions. Throughout Bancroft and Soda Springs he was known as the "Candy Man" as he loved passing out candy to any child that he greeted with his presences. He loved Shasta soda, Toolley's milkshakes, gardening, and working outdoors. He had a contagious smile that could light up a room. But most of all he doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His memories and legacy will live for many years.
He is survived by his brothers Marlan Parker (Idaho), Eugene Parker (Idaho), Farrell Parker (Idaho), daughter Joyce Simpson (Oregon), sons Gary Parker (Illinois) and Wayne Parker (Wyoming).
7 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents Harvey and LaVeda Parker, wife Carol Parker and sister Valene Parker Wells .
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 27, 2019 at 10 AM at the Bancroft LDS Ward Chapel with a visitation from 8-9:30 a.m. The graveside service will follow at the Bancroft Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Caribou Memorial Living Center for their exceptional care and kind hearts.
