Obituary

Va Loie Johanna McLain, 95, of Bancroft, Idaho passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on January 21, 1917 the daughter of Peters Burt and Katherine "Katie" Schenk Jensen. Va Loie married J. Darrell "Whitey" McLain on May 7, 1938 in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Darrell passed away on February 9, 1989. She has lived in Bancroft for 75 years. They spent winters in Quartzsite, AZ until Darrells Passing, then she went to Salt Lake City, UT and the has lived last three years with her daughter Roene in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in the primary, mutual, relief Society Sec. and a visiting teacher. She was also a member of the DUP for many years. Va Loie worked with her husband on the Miss Caribou Pageant for many years and had hosted exchange students from Europe. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, sewing, crafts, and was an excellent artist. She judged arts for fairs and schools. She also made beautiful capes and afghans. She is survived by three daughters, Julia Faye Clark of Oxnard, CA, Roene (Max) Butcher of Salt Lake City, UT, VonCille (Brian) Lasley of Nampa, ID. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mada Smith of Soda Springs, ID, Connie Maxwell of Pocatello, ID, and a sister-in-law Eve Modersitzki of Soda Springs, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son J. Darwin, a granddaughter Kelly Nichols, a grandson Todd Snooks, 5 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Ed Clark, Don Hamp, and sister Marelda Barfuss. Services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bancroft Chapel and on Thursday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Listen To Service:
