DeVal "Val" Egbert Gillett, 95; of Grace passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his home in Grace.
Val was born December 13, 1914 in Grace, Idaho the son of Earl Lynn and Harriet May Egbert Gillett.
He spent his childhood in Conda, ID later moving to Grace, ID. He graduated from Grace High School.
Val married Emma Lucile Sorensen on January 2, 1935 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. She passed away on June 3, 2003.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Val was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was Justice of the Peace for 25 years and worked at Anderson Lumber for 40 years.
He dedicated his life as a volunteer in Boy Scouts. He was the first eagle scout in the Bannock Stake and he had also earned the Silver Beaver award.
Val enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a Master Carpenter-Cabinet Maker and Silver Smith.
He is survived by one son and one daughter; D. Timothy & Susanne Gillett of Mapleton, UT; Janet & McGee Harris of Soda Springs, ID. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 35 Great-Grandchildren and 14 Great-Great-Grandchildren and one son-in-law Ronald Gage of Preston, ID. He was preceded in death by his wife, five brothers, one sister, a daughter Marilyn Gage and one grandson and one great-grandson.
Services were held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. Burial was at the Grace Cemetery.
