Obituary

Valerie Gittins McAlister, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born on April 23, 1962, in Logan, Utah, to Ruth and Leland Gittins. She was the second youngest out of 8 kids. She finally won her short but courageous battle with breast cancer.

Valerie lived in several communities throughout her life, including Mendon, Mt. Sterling, and Wellsville, Utah, and Soda Springs, Idaho. Wherever she lived, she made a home filled with love, laughter, family, and the things that brought her joy.

Valerie was a loving and caring mother who cherished her children and grandchildren. Her family was one of the most important parts of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She is survived by her husband, Frank McAlister; her daughters, Shasta McAlister, Vonda (Jon) Orchard, Mickey Feeney and her son Todd Breeze. Her Brothers; Bruce (Lynette) Gittins, Kim (Janae) Gittins, Monte (Sandra) Gittins, Lyle (Cleone) Gittins, Lance (Mandy) Gittins and her sisters; Claudia (Doug) Larsen and Tamera Seamon. She was a proud grandmother to Zayden, Ridge, Skylar, Brynleigh, Jordon, Kaitlyn, Kyllie, and many more whom she loved dearly.

Valerie enjoyed the simple things in life that brought her happiness. She loved cross-stitching, gardening, spending time with her children and grandchildren, being outdoors, and caring for her beloved pets. She had a special love for family and made those around her feel cared for and loved.

Valerie worked for 13 years at Caribou Medical Center before achieving a dream that was very special to her. She went on to work at Turner Mining, where she drove the ore trains. Her work was something she was proud of, and getting her dream job was a meaningful accomplishment in her life.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Ruth Gittins, her daughter, Tifeny Michelle, and her son-in-law, James Feeney.

Those who knew Valerie will remember her for her loving heart, her caring nature, her devotion to her family, and the many memories she created with the people she loved. Her family will carry her love and memory with them always.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced by the family.
