Vance Chester Wakley, 57, of Soda Springs, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his home. He was born June 6, 1950 at Soda Springs the son of Reed B. and Glenna Thomas Wakley.
He was raised and educated in Soda Springs, graduating from Soda Springs High School and also Idaho State University.
Vance had served in the U S Navy for 6 years with an Honorable Discharge.
He worked as a drug and alcohol abuse councilor and for many years as a mentor for many different people. He gave a lot more than he ever could receive.
Vance is survived by 2 sons; Dax Howard Wakley and Wyatt Cellan both of Idaho Falls. Also surviving are 2 brothers and 1 sister; Lou Wakley, Sandy, UT; Ronald Reed Wakley; Pleasant Grove, UT; and Helen Kekuna, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Brad Lee Wakley.
Cremation services were conducted February 21, 2008. Friends and family are cordially invited to meet Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the American Legion Hall on hte corner of 1st North and 1st West in Grace, Idaho at 1:30 P.M. to 3 P.M. for a potluck luncheon. Meats Cheeses, rolls and condiments will be furnished by family. Other potluck dishes as desired by those who attend. At 3 p.m. a graveside service will be held at the Grace Cemetery.
