Vaughn Deraine Popa, age 72, of Grace, Idaho passed away May 30, three days before his 73rd birthday.

Born in Soda Springs on June 2, 1950, he was the son of Dallas and Maxine Popa. Vaughn grew up in Alexander as the oldest of three children. He attended Soda Springs High School and graduated in 1968. Vaughn worked at Kerr-McGee and Becker. He attended Idaho State and became a machinist.

Vaughn met and married Oswalda (Dana) Badilla in the Logan Temple on September 26, 2009. They moved to Grace in July of 2014 to help with Vaughn's parents.

Anyone who knew Vaughn knows that going the fastest and highest was his thing! He loved snowmobiling and he took stock snowmobiles and turned them into hypersleds. Boating and water skiing was another passion along with hunting. In the summer you would find him on the lake and the fall in the mountains hunting.

Vaughn could fix anything and he was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. He was hard working despite the disabilities he had.

Services will be held at the Grace Idaho Stake Center on Monday, June 5. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 AM with the funeral at noon. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
