Edward Verl Harding, 90 of Soda Springs, formerly of Grace, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at Spring Creek Manor in Soda Springs. He was born June 15, 1917 at Aurora, Utah the son of Samuel Edward and Myrtle May Anderson Harding.
He married Morine Ruth Lay, March 16, 1942 in Axtel, Utah. She passed away January 18, 2008.
Verl was raised and educated in Aurora, Utah. He had also lived in Constitution, Idaho and in Grace Idaho for 43 years. He served in the U S Army during WWII and traveled to Louisiana, Texas, England, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Spain, Bavaria, Switzerland and New York, and received the Bronze Star for his service in Germany.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was manager and procurement agent for General Mills; a farmer and truck driver.
Verl was a member of the Grace Lions Club.
His hobbies include painting by number, jig saw puzzles, reading, fishing, hunting, gardening and growing flowers, camping and traveling.
Verl is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters; Kirk V and Carol Harding, Fillmore, UT; Trudy Huffman, St Petersburg, FL; and Denice Marie and Richard Whitworth, Bothell, WA; also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister, Thelma Probert, Scipio, UT.
He was also preceded in death by grandsons Kent and Shaun Whitworth and a brother Maurice Harding.
Memorial services were conducted on Friday April 4th at 10 a.m. at Spring Creek Manor in Soda Springs.
