Obituary

Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Virginia Truly Lakey Michaelson, age 97, of Montpelier, Idaho, passed into God's hands from natural causes on June 30, 2015, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Elaine Evans in Star, Idaho. Virginia was born on April 5, 1918, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Charles Robinson Lakey and Evalyn Bishop. She had 6 sisters and 5 brothers. At the age of 20, she married Ray Walter Evans. They had two children together, Lee and Jack. After Ray passed away, she married Preston Michaelson. When Preston died, she married Boyd Grossnickle. She remained in her house in Montpelier after Boyd passed away until January of 2015. She is survived by her brother Russell (Irene) Lakey of Meridian, Idaho; sister Edith Glenn of Soda Springs, Idaho; son Lee (Elaine) Evans of Star, Idaho; son Jack (Evelyn) Evans of Wasco, Oregon; nine grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Virginia had such a positive attitude. She said that if she ever got depressed, she would just go shopping. She had a strong will and would always tell it like she thought it was and would most always look on the bright side of life. She had a wonderful sense of humor. When people would ask her age, she would say, "It is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it does not matter." She would always give us good advice and knew what was going on even when we didn't. She was a very beautiful lady who loved dressing up to the hilt with her jewelry, beautiful clothes and shoes. Virginia had a very deep and tender love for her two sons, Lee and Jack. She also loved her 9 grandchildren very dearly. They loved her right back as she cared about and was forever interested in each of their lives. She never forgot a birthday until a few years ago when she could no longer see well enough to write out the cards. On her 97th birthday party this year, she was radiant and beautiful. She will be deeply missed. We know in our hearts that she is having a great time now, visiting and catching up with her loved ones who have gone before. Services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center (290 South 3rd West). The family will visit with friends on Monday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. Listen to service
