Von Lester Barfuss was born May 5, 1946 in Soda Springs, Idaho the son of Oliver Fredrick Barfuss and Cora Lester.

He was the 5th child in a family of eight children. There are only four surviving. He grew up on the family farm in Bancroft. He graduated from North gem High School in 1965. He served an LDS Mission from 1965-1967. He also served some time in the Navy.

He married Chris Wellard on May 1, 1970, and three children were born to this union. They were later divorced.

Much of his life he worked as a ranch hand for KV Hansen Ranch and Arimo Ranch. He also worked for Alexander Company in Bancroft for several years. He loved listening to and singing western music. The last few years he has lived in Chubbuck, ID.

His parents have passed away as well as two sisters and one brother, Coreen and Bruce Alder, Jan Schmidt and Kim Barfuss. His surviving siblings are Isabel and Roger Griffeth, Lester and Roene Barfuss, LaRene and Bob Grover and Rea and Terry Bell.

Services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs. Family will meet with friends Friday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.
