Vonda F. Hegstrom, 87, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Soda Springs.
She was born August 4, 1924 in Grace to Levi Hugh and Nettie Nielsen Farnworth.
She married Orion Carl Hegstrom on July 31, 1942 in Soda Springs. He passed away on July 24, 1977.
Vonda lived in Grace, Idaho until she married in 1942. They moved to Central in May of that year. In 1954 they moved back to Grace.
She graduated from Grace High School in 1942. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Primary teacher and the Secretary of Sunday School at Central and Grace 2nd Wards. She served as a Visiting Teacher for many years and had a 100% record.
Vonda was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Senior Citizens, and the Help Your Neighbor Club.
She enjoyed camping, puzzle books, quilting, crocheting, embroidery work, playing Chinese checkers, music, old movies and musicals and loved being with family and friends.
She is survived by one son and one daughter: Ronald Orion (Carole) Hegstrom, Grace, Idaho; Nyla Annette Welker of Soda Springs, Idaho. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Annie, Carla, Tina, Mark, Rhonda, John, and Holly; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother-in-law Harold Hegstrom, Ogden, Utah; sisters-in-law Joan Farnworth, Grace, Idaho and Willidean Smith, Grace, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Milo Farnworth; one sister, Idona Condie and a son-in-law, Dennis Welker.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Central Cemetery.
