Wayne Hiram Hansen passed away peacefully December 31, 2011. He was born on September 22, 1933, the first child of Emil Martin and Mary Loretta Swensen Hansen. He was raised on the family farm that was purchased by his grandfather and passed down to his father.
Throughout his high school years, Wayne participated in band and drama. He graduated from High School in 1951. After graduation he attended USU for two years where he played trombone in the marching band and participated in drama. He served for two years in the military. Wayne served an LDS mission in Denmark, which was the highlight of his life. His grandfather was born and lived in Denmark until he was a teenager. Wayne would have known his grandfather and was very excited to have had the chance to return to the land where his grandfather was born.
When he returned from his mission, Wayne stayed on the farm for a short time then moved to Salt Lake where he lived for a number of years. He later moved to Portland Oregon. He lived in Soda Springs and worked as a security guard at Monsanto for a number of years and also for the Forest Service. In later years he lived with and cared for his mother and enjoyed singing in the Grace 3rd Ward choir.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister Marette and younger brother Reid. He was married briefly two different times but leaves no children. His only surviving relatives are eight nieces and nephews and their families from his two siblings.
Graveside services were held at the Lago Cemetery on January 4, 2012 at 3 p.m. with President Bart Christensen conducting.
The family would like to thank the kind people at Spring Creek and the Caribou Memorial Hospital Living Center for their loving care and concern during the last years of his life.
