Ivan Wayne Petersen returned home to his loving Heavenly Father on April 6, 2010, following an extended illness.
He was born in Weston, Idaho on March 20, 1922, to Ivan Edwin Petersen and Marretta Merle Fredrickson, the oldest of 4 children.
Wayne was raised and went to school through the 8th grade in Stockton, Idaho. He graduated from Downey High School in 1940. He attended machinist school in Pocatello, Idaho, and graduated in 1942. In October of that same year, Dad enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in Fort Douglas, Utah, and proudly served his country during World War II.
Upon returning home, he married his sweetheart, Elda Rasmussen, June 1, 1949, in Pocatello, Idaho, and together they raised 3 sons 1 daughter. They were sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on July 27, 1960.
Wayne worked for Homer Tractor in Preston and later settled in Soda Springs, working for Monsanto Chemical, Co., retiring in December of 1985.
One of Wayne's greatest joys was the family ranch where as a youth he learned the value of hard work and in later years passed that legacy on to his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, working on the farm and spending time with beloved family and friends.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings, including Stake Missionary and home teacher.
He was a member of the American Legion and served as Bugler, showing respect and honor for his fellow veterans.
We wish to express our love and thanks to the Spring Creek employees and residents, Access Home Health and Hospice employees and to Maria Martinez for the loving care given to our husband and father.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, and 1 great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving and eternal companion, Elda, of Soda Springs, ID; and children Ron (Sally) of Chubbuck, ID; Doyle (Pam) of Inkom, ID; Scott (Mary) of Yuba City, CA; Diane (Troy) of Salt Lake City, UT.
